How heatmap scans work
Understand the technology behind Mapifyer heatmaps and what the ranking data means.
Step-by-step instructions
- 1
What is a heatmap scan
A heatmap scan runs a live Google Maps search from multiple geographic points across a grid. Each point simulates a user searching from that location and records the business's ranking position.
- 2
The ranking grid
The grid overlays a map of the area. Each cell shows the business's rank position at that geographic point. Green = top 3. Yellow = positions 4β10. Red = rank 11+ or not in results.
- 3
Grid sizes and coverage
5Γ5 (25 points) covers a small neighborhood. 7Γ7 (49 points) covers a district. 9Γ9 (81 points) covers a full city. 13Γ13 (169 points) covers a full market area.
- 4
Credit consumption
The monthly included scan runs at your plan's default grid size for free. Larger grids and extra scans consume advanced credits from your plan or purchased credit packs.
Tips
- Show the heatmap to prospects in a discovery call β a mostly-red grid makes the problem immediately visible and creates urgency.
- Run scans before and after optimization campaigns to show measurable ranking improvement to clients.
